Living in The Cedars
The Cedars is a premiere subdivision located in Clark county between Battle Ground and Brush Prairie along The Cedars Golf Course. Being situated between both Battle Ground and Brush Prairie there are plenty of shopping, dining, entertainment and nature adventures available to suit everyones interests. This is a smaller, rural community that is fast growing, yet close in proximity to I-5 for a quick jaunt to Vancouver or Downtown Portland. It is not uncommon to find residents choose areas like Cedars Village or other nearby communities to live in and commute to Portland for work due to Vancouver not having sales tax.
There is ample opportunity for outdoor recreation aside from The Cedars Golf Course. Mt. St. Helen is ideal for hiking and climbing enthusiasts, not to mention the stunning scenery. Ape Caves offer 2.5 miles of mineral formations and includes a lava fall and forested trails surrounding the caves. Lewisville Park is a great place for family gatherings offering hiking, recreational areas and picnic areas. Cedars Golf Course for the golf lover. Battle Ground Lake for kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. Other outdoor recreation opportunities can be found at nearby parks such as Hockinson Meadows Community Park, which offers Disc Golf, a Dog Park, playground equipment and sports fields for soccer and baseball. There is also the Chelatchie Prairie Rail with Trail Project that still has more plans in the works but currently has a 33 mile trail that runs parallel to the county owned Chelatchie Prairie Railroad. Other nearby parks offering recreation and enjoyment of the outdoors are also readily available to residents and visitors as well.

The Cedars residents are served by the Battle Ground School District for their public education needs. According to Greatschools.org, the Battle Ground Public School District ratings are mostly average with a few that are above average and a couple of stragglers that were given below average ratings. Tukes Valley Middle School was given an above average rating of 7/10. Battle Ground High School and Daybreak Primary School were given ratings of 6/10, Chief Umtuch Middle School, Captain Strong, Daybreak Middle School and Prairie High School with a 5/10 rating and falling behind to a below average ratings Laurin Middle School with a 4/10 rating and Maple Grove and Tukes Valley Primary School a mere 3/10 rating.
