About Forest Highlands
Forest Highlands is one of Lake Oswego's largest communities stretching from the Willamette River and Riverview Cemetery South around Collins View and Inglewood encompassing Riverwood, Dunn Thorpe, the Tryon Creek State natural area, the Riverview natural area and south to Lake Oswego senior high school. The main residential neighborhood, however, sits just south of SW. Boones Ferry Rd. and north of the Lake Oswego Country Club.
Home to approximately 3800 residents in the northern part of Lake Oswego, Forest Highlands is known for its large open spaces, beautiful estates, and naturally wooded lots. This is a residential community with pretty much the only commercial or nonresidential area is the Lake Oswego high school located at the intersection of Country Club Road and Boones Ferry Road. There are several parks within the community including Pine Cone Park, a small little neighborhood park, and Woodmont Natural Park just north of Atwater Road, but both are primarily just green space with a little bit of trails.
Forest Heights Schools
Because it's Lake Oswego, residents are part of the Lake Oswego public school system, one of the best in the Portland metro area. Most students are assigned to the Forest Hills elementary school, the Lake Oswego middle school, and the Lake Oswego high school. All three of the schools received top reviews and rankings from great schools.org as well as niche.com. The Lake Oswego senior high school receives a 10 out of 10 for grades 9 through 12. The elementary school is located just outside the community in the First Addition neighborhood, the Lake Oswego junior high school is located just off of Country Club Road across the street from the Lake Oswego Senior High school. The school district offices are also located on the campus of the high school.
"Everything that exists in terms of resume building at an elite private school exists at LOHS. If you want your kids to have a broad and deep palette of academic and extracurricular options they can be fully satisfied here. If your kid is a STEM geeky kid, they can build their entire resume around all advanced math and science classes available here plus all the clubs like Robotics. If your child is more artistic, there are endless opportunities to study theater, music and art. There are multiple bands, orchestras and teams that do cheer, dance and other forms of expression. And if your kid wants to be on the same track of preparation they would be on if they attended an elite private school, they can choose from nearly 20 AP classes and take classes at 3 colleges for advanced coursework or summer classes. In addition, Lake Oswego as a city has many volunteering opportunities that will mentor and engage your kids into this thriving community." Great Schools
Homes in Forest Highlands
You'll find a variety of home styles and pricing as this is primarily a residential community. Homes dating back to the 1940s and 1950s tend to be ranch-style homes, smaller properties under 1500 ft.², yet a little bit more acreage. Some of the newer homes built within the last 20 years are larger, some up to 4500 ft.² with up to five or six bedrooms, beautiful views, and custom accessories and amenities. Forest Highlands does have a homeowners association with specific bylaws but most homes have no association fees or dues.
In the northeast quadrant of Forest Highlands, you'll find the Red Fox Hills townhouse community. This collection of two-story townhouses is home to about 130 units with a community clubhouse and swimming pool in the center. Homeowner association dues are approximately $300 per month, which covers insurance, exterior maintenance, management, amenities, and grounds maintenance. Most units have a two-car parking garage as well. These units typically sell for between $250,000 and $450,000.
